2013 - North Portland
Our flagship location, located in the Cathedral Park neighborhood of North Portland, was a collective effort of a small group of passionate, creative, and collaborative friends who saw a need in their local neighborhood for a gathering place.
A place where people could build meaningful relationships with each other, both behind and across the counter. From humble beginnings with a shoestring budget and a tiny team, to a full-fledged, critically-acclaimed third-wave café amongst some of the best in the city, Cathedral NoPo continues to set the standard for what any of our cafés can feel like - a quality-focused community hub, serving amazing coffees and delicious pastries in a friendly and engaging atmosphere.
2017 - Scappoose
Nestled alongside the majestic Columbia River a few miles outside of the Portland metro area, Scappoose is a beautiful and creative community that needed a public space to gather, connect, and share memorable experiences.
After moving into town in late 2016, owners Austen and Torrie saw an opportunity to bring the ethos and vision of our first shop into a new neighborhood, and the second location was born. Years later, Cathedral Scappoose is a bustling meeting place for the local community, continuing to inspire connection and collaboration in a family-friendly environment.
2022 - Cathedral Coffee Roasters
After continually partnering with some of Portland’s best coffee roasting companies, it was time for us to take the step and start our own roasting journey. We started Cathedral Coffee Roasters as an initiative to create new opportunities for our team to learn and grow, and to get more directly involved with sourcing our coffees from our favorite importers and producers year after year.
As stewards of an ever-rotating lineup of specialty single-origins, we roast our entire menu to highlight the full range of nuance and complexity that results from our producers’ radical dedication to their land and crops each year, which result in incredible harvests of some of the best coffees on the planet.
Now shipping coffee everywhere through our website, we also partner with some of our favorite cafés and restaurants throughout the Pacific Northwest, helping other spaces continue to delight their own neighborhoods with amazing coffee, roasted in our very own production space in Saint Helens, OR.
2024 - Lake Oswego
Today, we continue to grow into new neighborhoods and communities around our city, recently expanding our reach to the beautiful city of Lake Oswego with our newest café location. This space represents our commitment to execute on our mission of building relationships through extraordinary hospitality, and features a full espresso menu, fresh pastries from La Provence, and a bright, gallery-inspired space focused on bringing people together.
